De Budelse named "Best of Show" at Xerox's seventh annual PIXI awards

UXBRIDGE Dutch printing company De Budelse, b.v. demonstrated that you can judge a book by its cover. De Budelse’s “Sjakie Child Booklet and Music Package” took “Best of Show” last night at Xerox’s annual multinational digital Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging (PIXI) Awards. The winning entry featured a children’s book and complementary music CD in a creative package that included a customisable display case and printed insert for their customer, Poppovisual, a multimedia publisher. The packaging was personalised for small book retailers and card shops that carried the products, and printed on demand as fulfilment was needed. The De Budelse solution was chosen for its ability to benefit all parties – from the publisher that prints only the amount of packages ordered, to the retailers that can customise the promotion of the item for their stores, to the end users who are able to purchase the product from a local vendor – delivering a total product and solution. “By using Xerox’s digital printing technology we’re able to take the guess work out of how many the publisher should print,” said Harry Mennen, account manager, De Budelse. “We can supply a minimum order of five Sjakie packages depending on a store’s demand, and by using a variable data print solution to customise the display cases the retailers use to promote the item, these pieces actually sell themselves.” Now in its seventh year, the PIXI competition recognises the most innovative and effective work customers are printing with Xerox digital systems. This year’s awards attracted submissions from companies around the world including entries from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, across Europe and the U.S. Each entry was reviewed by a panel of international leaders from the graphic arts industry who judged the entries on innovation, use of digital technology, business effectiveness and overall aesthetics. “I always enjoy seeing new print creations that demonstrate how much d

New Xerox Wide Format printer delivers technical documents with precision and speed in a compact, affordable package

UXBRIDGE Large and complex engineering and architectural renderings, electrical diagrams and mechanical drawings require precise detail. With that in mind, Xerox today introduced the Xerox 6279™ Wide Format Printer, a mid range black-and-white digital printer, copier and scanner which features sharp image quality, speed, a compact footprint and low running costs. The launch of the 6279 coincides with the launch of the latest version of FreeFlow Accxes, the leading Xerox workflow software for technical documents. The system is flexible enough to fit in a variety of environments, including commercial print shops and architectural, engineering and construction companies. Its speed - printing seven or nine A1prints per minute - make it one of the most productive products in its class. "Customers have told us that image quality is their number one concern with operating costs running a close second. The image quality and speed of the Xerox 6279 meets those requirements." said Howard Witt, Manager, Wide Format, Xerox UK. "The launch of the 6279 further reaffirms Xerox's commitment to the wide format market and follows the recent launch of three colour graphics wide format printers." The Xerox 6279 can simultaneously scan up to six inches per second with its optional on-board scanner while printing. The 600 x 600 dots-per-inch printing and scanning capabilities deliver sharp, precise details even for complex plans, schematics and renderings. The system holds up to four rolls of paper, tracing paper or film for uninterrupted printing and media flexibility. The optional on-board scanner or Wide Format Scan System allows reproduction of worn originals to be improved by suppressing the background, which may be damaged by wrinkles or water, and saving the important fine line details of text and images. Users can select a wide range of configuration options including printer-only or copier/printer models. The copier/printer offers black-and-white scanning that i

Printondemand-worldwide.com improves its book production solution with Xerox’s help

UXBRIDGE -- In order to address the increased demand for high-quality book publication, Printondemand-worldwide.com has upgraded its end-to-end book production solution by combining a Xerox Nuvera 288 with a self-designed web ordering and management information system that will help proof customer orders and monitor the status of print jobs. In recent months Printondemand-worldwide.com has grown as the requests for short-run book production from publishers around the world has increased. At the same time, the company also saw an opportunity to invest in new book production areas where high resolution printing was essential. This includes the publication of art and photography books. The Xerox Nuvera 288 Digital Perfecting System is able to print onto a wider range of gloss and satin paper types and has a 1200dpi resolution quality. As a result, the revolutionary Xerox monochrome printing quality enables Printondemand-worldwide.com to produce art and photography books in black and white to a quality that is comparable to lithographic printing. The introduction of the Xerox Nuvera 288 and new web ordering systems completes Printondemand-worldwide.com’s end-to-end book production solution. The company is now well placed to produce books at any quantity for a range of uses. Andy Cork, Managing Director of Printondemand-worldwide.com said, “As specialists in book production, we are constantly improving our service to customers and pushing the boundaries of what on-demand book production can achieve – hence the introduction of our new web management systems and the Xerox Nuvera 288. In the past, art and photography books have been difficult to produce as digital print technology has not been able to get to a high enough resolution to allow an authentic reproduction. With the Xerox Nuvera 288 in place, this problem has been eliminated. Our work with the Xerox Nuvera 288 is changing the perception of how digital print can address the needs of the publishing mark
