CLOC boosts on-demand book printing capabilities with a new Xerox 288 Nuvera

UXBRIDGE CLOC Ltd, the London-based commercial printer, has further boosted its digital capabilities by investing in four Xerox production printers including a Nuvera 288, a DocuColor 242, a DocuColor 8000AP and a Xerox 4112. Installed at its operational centres in London and the University of Solent, these Xerox machines will deliver a more efficient and environmentally-responsible automated on-demand print service to its 200 customers including small and large enterprises, companies, universities, colleges, institutes and councils. CLOC's newest Xerox machines will produce on-demand educational books, marketing collateral and training manual additions, signifying the business' strength as an on-demand print specialist. As CLOC's business continues to grow 30 per cent year-on-year, it looked to new print technology to ensure faster turnaround times and greater capacity whilst matching the high quality of traditional offset printing and addressing the company's environmental responsibility standards. As a long-term partner and digital print expert, Xerox proved to be in an ideal position to meet all the criteria set by CLOC. "We have seen exceptional growth recently and felt now was good time to evaluate our digital capabilities. Our criteria for investing in new digital print technology were simple - very fast, high quality machines that were good to the environment. From previous experience, we knew that Xerox had a solid reputation as a leading digital print technology provider and also a strong status as a 'green' business," said Tommay Thomas, managing director at CLOC Ltd. "The Xerox Nuvera 288 is a great example of how Xerox addressed our needs. Not only does the machine give us an on-demand capability that means we could deliver the exact quantity requested by the customer but it also uses EA toner, , therefore minimising waste. Xerox's chemically grown toner is made up of extremely small particles and therefore requires less energy to manufacture

New software suite offers more colour consistency and productivity to Xerox DocuColor 7000AP/8000AP digital presses

UXBRIDGE Xerox today offered a new suite of colour management software for its Xerox DocuColor® 7000AP/8000AP Digital Presses that ensures more consistent colour image quality and more productivity. With the Automated Colour Quality Suite and its various automated features, print providers can now achieve quicker press set up, increased production time, better colour stability and matching, and fewer operator errors. “Colour image quality demands are escalating,” said Peter Taylor, director, Production and Graphic Arts, Xerox UK. “By having the Automated Colour Quality Suite available across a wider range of our colour systems, more print shops can produce jobs such as photo books, corporate brochures and marketing materials that require a high degree of colour reliability and detail.”  The new capabilities – available with Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server 7.0 – are made possible by integrating an in-line spectrophotometer, a device that measures the colour of sample prints, in the Xerox 7000AP/8000AP’s paper path. Breakthrough improvements in profile creation technology yield accurate saturated colour, even and balanced neutrals, outstanding shadow detail and smooth highlight sweeps. In addition, Xerox has added Variable Gloss Management to the suite that will reduce the glossy appearance of dark colours in digital prints.  Print providers can now adjust the image rendering to a preferred level of glossiness and appearance for any job.  Other components of the Automated Colour Quality Suite – that until now were reserved for the company’s Xerox iGen3® 90 and 110 Digital Production Presses – include: Advanced Profiling - Enables greater realism, better neutrals, increased shadow and highlight detail, and better photo rendering.  It also can accurately emulate offset industry colour standards such as GRACoL (General Requirements for Applications in Commercial Offset Lithography).  Automate
