UXBRIDGE, 27 August 2014 – Cition, responsible for the management of all paid parking in the City of Amsterdam, has chosen Xerox’s Compliance™ web portal solution to handle the online payment of parking fines of foreign registered vehicles in the city. The solution is an important part of the city’s completely digital on-street parking enforcement.
Cition uses advanced technology to scan the licence plates of cars parked in Amsterdam. Stickers, with a link to a website, are placed on the windscreens of foreign licence-plated vehicles that have failed to pay parking fees.
Once on the website vehicle owners see a picture of their licence plate and a map showing their parking spot. The website then offers the opportunity to either challenge the parking fine or pay it directly via credit card or electronic transfer.
"After an extensive search of available solutions, we decided that Xerox’s Compliance was the best fit for our needs. Now, several months after implementation, the benefits are clear. Where it was previously difficult to trace foreign car owners and collect fines, we can now impose a fine and collect the monies due quickly and easily via our user friendly web portal.” said Lodewijk Hartman, chief financial officer, Cition.
The entire enforcement process is automated from checking the license plates to generating the parking ticket.
"Xerox is a leader in on-street and off-street parking management and enforcement," said David Jones, general manager, Xerox Parking “The solution that we have developed for Amsterdam can be deployed in any city around the world."
