Uxbridge, U.K., 16 June, 2011 – One of the U.K.’s oldest printers, Exeter-based William Pollard & Co, has revolutionised its print services by investing in a Xerox iGen4 Press and Xerox FreeFlow digital workflow, speeding up processes and significantly cutting costs.
The move has benefited the 230-year-old company and its customers, particularly in one of Pollard’s key services -- the production of weighbridge tickets for the road freight industry. Moving from a litho process to Xerox digital print has transformed Pollard’s production of these tickets.
“Pollard’s expertise in this area is significant -- we’ve produced weighbridge tickets for some 50 years -- but we’re not stuck in old ways. Working with Xerox to re-engineer the production process has permitted us to realise some £50k per annum savings in production costs.” said Dennis Mason, deputy managing director, William Pollard & Co.
In addition to offering a complete range of print, design and web services to some of the U.K.’s best-known public and private sector organisations, Pollard’s online service, Pollard’s Direct, has become increasingly popular with customers. The firm found that usage of the Web portal, which allows customers to order and submit jobs online, was often resulting in smaller jobs, putting pressure on its pre-press area to deliver small margin jobs. By linking Xerox’s FreeFlow Print Server®, FreeFlow Process Manager® and FreeFlow Output Manager® to the portal, Pollard’s has been able to automate production, saving on account management costs and improving customer service.
“Through the Xerox solution, Pollard’s is able to offer new digital services and increase its personalised colour applications for direct mail and marketing communications,” said Martyn Train, general manager, Graphic Communications, Xerox UK. “At Xerox, we are committed to helping graphic communications providers to grow by increasing their share of business with current customers and attracting new ones.”
