BELFAST, U.K., March, 28, 2017 – The Department of Finance, Enterprise Shared Services, has signed a five-year managed print services deal with Xerox. Under the agreement, Xerox will assist with a print strategy that will help the provider work towards the UK government’s ‘digital by default’ standards, achieve sustainability goals and produce up to £2.2 million in annual cost savings.
IT Assist provides IT infrastructure services to 21,000+ customers across government departments, agencies and other public bodies in Northern Ireland. The contract with Xerox has already enabled IT Assist to reduce its printing output by 32 per cent, reducing costs and contributing to a 20 per cent reduction in energy consumption. This reduction in paper alone is expected to drive annual savings of £150K and reduce carbon pollution by 560 tonnes.
IT Assist has also implemented Xerox’s FollowMe solution to permit its 21,000 employees to print securely from any enabled device to any networked printer, even if remote. The solution offers confidential printing and gives IT Assist greater visibility into printing patterns across users, departments or devices, allowing it to further reduce costs and unnecessary printing in coming months.
Xerox will work with IT Assist on an ongoing basis to audit its print infrastructure and document workflows in order to establish new targets and drive further improvements over time by incorporating additional solutions which may include workflow scanning and hybrid mail services.
“IT Assist is now able to achieve digital transformation in a way which will increase employee productivity without draining financial resource,” said Andrew Morrison, managing director, Xerox UK and Ireland. “We look forward to supporting IT Assist with its ongoing transition into a more digital workforce.”
