UXBRIDGE, U.K., February 29, 2012 – For Document Outsourcing Limited (DOL), a document management and services provider that delivers millions of time-critical items of mail per month, the ability to avoid bottlenecks by prioritising print jobs is a critical task. To accelerate the process and make it possible to deliver jobs faster, the company has invested £350,000 in two new Xerox presses and GMC’s PrintNet workflow software at its site in Bellshill, Strathclyde.
The installation of a Xerox Docutech 180 Highlight Colour press and a Xerox Colour 1000 Press have cemented DOL’s ability to deliver the high-quality, secure, high volume mail required by the debt sector; a primary focus of its business. Coupled with GMC’s PrintNet workflow management software, which manages variable data and facilitates online proofing, the company is now capable of delivering over five million time-critical items of mail per month.
“Every Wednesday, a large number of batch orders would come in and invariably there would be a bottleneck,” explained Neil McCallum, Managing Director at DOL. “Now with our enlarged fleet of Xerox presses and PrintNet software we can automate the management of this busy period, accurately prioritise work and deliver jobs faster – all without the risk of human error.”
The investment is set to increase the output of its PrimePost direct mail service offering to bring it in-line with its growth predictions for 2012. DOL now has the capacity to meet the 30 per cent target that it expects its direct mail business to grow over the course of the next year. With seven other Xerox presses already in place in Bellshill and in another site in Warrington, the company now boasts one of the largest highlight colour capabilities in Europe - while also improving its full colour offering for its growing base of hybrid mail customers.
Working together to help business grow
DOL worked closely with Xerox to identify ways to increase its output in-line with growth expectations. The investment project was completed ahead of schedule and DOL has already planned for further expansion to meet its continued growth predictions.
“This is a great example of Xerox working in partnership with a print company to deliver a solution that helps them to produce more jobs and grow their business.” said Mike Holyoake, general manager, Graphic Communications Operations, Xerox UK and Ireland.
“The investment in the PrintNet software in particular has meant that we are now able to get the best from the equipment that we already had in place, while the Colour 1000 Press offers improved colour and additional security features,” concluded McCallum. “Our PrimePost service is now more flexible than ever and has allowed us to reach a wider market place as well as take on an increased amount of more varied work.”
