Under the terms of the agreement, Xerox is refreshing Reuters’ print infrastructure throughout the UK and consolidating 12 of its London offices into four main centres, including its new Head Office at Canary Wharf.
Xerox is helping Reuters evaluate the efficiency of more than 1,400 printers, multifunction devices, copiers and faxes that the global information company has accumulated from more than 200 suppliers. These are being replaced by an optimised fleet of appropriately located, best-for-purpose machines. As part of its managed service environment, Xerox is overseeing Reuters’ entire document output environment.
The appointment of an eight-strong team looks after the service provision and procurement of all consumables, paper and printers. A Xerox-managed on-site help desk has been introduced which will link directly to Reuters’ incumbent IT service provider. Reuters has already seen a vast reduction in printer related calls to the IT Helpdesk as the printers are proactively monitored. To take care of large specialised jobs, Xerox has established a print room and taken over the management of all third party equipment and suppliers to ensure a seamless transition to the new printing environment.
Nigel Smith, FM Sourcing Manager for Reuters said: “Xerox is constantly monitoring the fleet. It’s very rare to come across a printer that’s run out of toner or paper, and if a paper jam happens it’s not uncommon to discover an engineer fixing it even before a support call is made. We’re in great shape. All our systems work, availability is at an all time high and everything is taken care of for us. What’s more, we have a clear understanding of exactly what we’re spending - and saving - and where.”
Peter Romaine, Director and General Manager for Xerox Global Services, Xerox UK said: “Xerox fully understands how vital it is for Reuters to run at the speed of breaking news. By helping them better manage when, how and where they send, print, copy, scan, fax, store and retrieve information, Reuters will see significant improvements and efficiencies in all their workplace practices.”
