UXBRIDGE Providence Print and Mailing Ltd has made a commitment to deliver personalised digital print jobs following an investment in a Xerox iGen4 110 digital press and XMPie personalisation software. As the West Sussex-based mailing house migrates away from traditional lithographic printing techniques, Providence Print and Mailing’s first digital production device will produce personalised corporate, marketing and campaign literature that will have a greater impact on the customer’s target audience.

Customer sales and marketing departments continue to hold valuable end-user data that is often not effectively used in direct mail (DM) campaigns. Providence Print and Mailing is working with new and existing customers to improve their awareness of the impact of targeted short-run DM projects and the value that the right print technology can bring to these campaigns.

Ray Pack, managing director, Providence Print and Mailing said, “Lithographic margins have been squeezed over the past few years which has led us to keep a close eye on the development of the digital production market. By bringing in the Xerox iGen4 and XMPie software on board, we can offer customers the choice between mass-market lithographic printing and short-run targeted digital print campaigns. The ability of the Xerox equipment to use variable data, deliver short-run print jobs and produce a high quality document has allowed us to win new business.

He added, “Digital print is the future of our business. I can’t see Providence Print and Mailing heavily investing in lithographic equipment in the coming years. For the time being our B2 and B3 lithographic machines will continue to run in tandem with the Xerox iGen4, which will address growing digital print volumes.”

Peter Taylor, director & general manager, Large Enterprise & Graphic Communications, Xerox UK, commented, “Providence Print and Mailing are taking great strides into new areas of their business. Their first foray into the digital world has been to invest in the top end of Xerox digital printers, which signals their commitment to having the right technology in order to deliver high-quality, short-run print jobs. This is their key differentiator and sets Providence Print and Mailing apart from their litho-only competitors.”

The environmental credentials of the Xerox iGen4 played as important a role as the quality, speed and functionality of the device in Providence Print and Mailing’s decision. With its non-toxic toners, minimised waste, and 97% recyclable or remanufacturable components, the Xerox iGen4 gave Providence Print and Mailing additional environmental accreditation that its customers’ are asking for.
