UXBRIDGE – The need for excellent print quality, improved speed and superior customer service are behind Printondemand-worldwide.com’s decision to install Xerox’s DocuColor 8000AP in order to support its growing on-demand print business.

As specialists in on-demand book publishing, Printondemand-worldwide.com required a production machine that could help the company turn around orders in five days or fewer whilst maintaining the excellent print quality for which the business is known. The Xerox DocuColor 8000AP with CREO Digital Front End offered the ideal solution as it maintains its speed on heavy colour stocks while Xerox’s exceptional customer service meant that the installation was quick and easy, allowing Printondemand-worldwide.com to increase its capacity to handle more jobs almost immediately.

Andy Cork, Managing Director of Printondemand-worldwide.com said, “We had previously invested in a machine from another supplier to meet our business needs but soon realised that the technology, service and support was not working for us. Therefore we re-evaluated our technology needs and turned to Xerox for an alternative solution. The DocuColor 8000AP’s speed and print resolution meant it was the best fit for our business. Since it has been installed the machine has essentially become a central work horse for our day-to-day operations.”

Commenting on the deal, Kevin O’Donnell, Xerox Marketing Manager – iGen3 and DocuColor, added, “We already had an established relationship with Printondemand-worldwide.com through our local business partner, ROI. So when the company was looking for alternative solutions, Xerox and ROI were a natural choice. The Xerox DocuColor 8000AP provides Printondemand-worldwide.com with the speed, reliability and quality benefits they demanded. This deal demonstrates that acquiring a digital press is not just about new hardware; the right technology must also be supported by excellent service and support.”

Running at full rated speed for a range of stocks up to 300gsm, the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP features 2400 x 2400 x 1 dpi print resolution for excellent sharpness and uniformity resulting in crisp, sharp text and digital screening technology that improves colour consistency. The DocuColor 8000AP digital press offers tight front-to-back registration of +/- 0.5mm, which effectively complements output from offset presses.
