UXBRIDGE – UK retailer John Lewis has selected Xerox colour technology to ensure the timely and efficient generation of quality in-store marketing collateral.

Purchased through Xerox partner Fast Technology, a printer solutions specialist, John Lewis has installed Xerox DocuColor™ 242 colour printers across all department stores nationwide. Complementing existing Xerox Phaser™ 7760 and 8560 printers, the new devices, which are used primarily for printing point of sale marketing materials such as shelf presentations and posters, make business easier.

John Lewis made the decision to replace end of life printers that were relied upon by in-store teams, and to upgrade to a solution which could handle high quality, short print runs, economically and often on unusual media sizes. With the new Xerox machines in place, John Lewis has access to the very latest colour print technology, providing greater image quality and the ability to handle larger file sizes.

Stephen Masters, Senior Analyst, Operational Systems at John Lewis, said, “In order to remain competitive within the marketplace and keep our customers fully informed (whether that be in terms of prices, events or new services) we need to be able to produce effective and professional marketing and promotional materials, often at short notice.

“We were very impressed with the quality and breadth of colour offered by the Xerox printers; skin tones for example are typically hard to translate into print. These devices offer superior print quality and were more cost effective than other solutions we had looked at.”

Mark Duffelen, director and general manager, Channels Group, Xerox UK and Ireland, commented: “In the retail sector businesses have to be quick to respond in order to meet customer demands, and it’s this speed of response that will set retailers apart. Xerox offers a range of technology that brings value to our customers so we’re delighted that the Xerox DocuColor™ 242 printer is helping John Lewis to achieve this objective.”

Joe Schupper, director at Fast Technology, said: “John Lewis’s high expectations have been met by Fast Technology and Xerox working in partnership over the last five years covering several applications. Once again our well designed processes were proven, by enabling smooth delivery to all branches and installation to the full satisfaction of the client.”
