UXBRIDGE – Xerox today announced a global contract to manage Fiat Group’s print operations, helping the auto-focused industrial group to reduce operational costs by an estimated 30 per cent, and assist its growing sustainability agenda. The five-year Managed Print Services [MPS] contract will be rolled out initially across Italy, Germany, France, Belgium and the US, eventually supporting the office printing needs of more countries where the Fiat Group operates.

Working with Xerox, the Fiat Group will put in place MPS to manage its company-wide print spend more effectively and drive cost out of its global IT infrastructure. Through continuous management of the print environment and device consolidation, Xerox will improve employee productivity by identifying and fixing equipment problems before they impact day-to-day business. With a global overview of its print environment, and a fully managed service, Fiat Group will be able to review its performance regularly by plan and have a complete overview of costs.

Xerox will also back up Fiat Group’s commitment to developing sustainability practices by using tools such as Xerox’s sustainability calculator, to help reduce energy use by 50 per cent.

Fiat turned to Xerox because of it s global capability and local expertise. Simplifying and standardising its global print infrastructure will increase reliability, support and grow its sustainability practices, and transform the way in which it works. Fiat will have a clear understanding of its exact spending and saving in terms of print – and where.

Increasingly, large organisations are recognising the value of a controlled and standardised print environment, according to Quocirca’s recent MPS in large enterprises report. More than two thirds [67%] of organisations surveyed view printing as a strategic priority. The report indicates that cost reduction is a primary driver for MPS adoption.

“By outsourcing its print services, Fiat Group can focus on its core business.” said Shaun Pantling, director and general manager of Xerox Global Services, Europe. “With our wealth of expertise in this area, global organisations like Fiat Group are turning to us to help innovate the way they do business, reduce costs and drive long term growth.”

The agreement with Fiat Group is an endorsement of Xerox’s leadership position in terms of worldwide client satisfaction and geographical depth, as well as the breadth and consistency of its MPS offering. Xerox was positioned by Gartner, Inc., in the Leaders Quadrant in the “Magic Quadrant for Managed Print Services Worldwide” for 2009 and the company was named MPS market leader in Quocirca’s 2009 European MPS report.

Xerox also recently announced the launch of Enterprise Print Services , the first offering to help companies better manage documents across their global print infrastructure – from the office to the in-house print centre to the virtual workplace.
