Uxbridge, U.K., 01 February, 2011-- Xerox U.K. and Ireland today announced the appointment of Carlo Longhi as director and general manager, Government. Xerox recently created the division in response to the U.K. central government’s initiative to improve procurement processes, increase efficiencies and maximise cost savings.
Longhi will lead Xerox’s engagement with central government through the government’s new, “single-client approach.” Under its new alignment with vendors, the UK government will procure IT equipment and services as a single entity, rather than through its individual departments.
Longhi and his team will continue to deliver document management and business process outsourcing services through existing Xerox contracts with the central government. His team will also seek further opportunities to improve processes and achieve cost savings to support the government as it looks to provide enhanced services to U.K. citizens at a lower cost.
Longhi’s appointment follows Xerox’s recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cabinet Office to deliver savings to HM Government as part of the Efficiency Reform Group’s deficit-reduction progamme.
Longhi joined Xerox in 1988 and has held various senior management roles in sales, strategic alliances and outsourced services. Having worked with Xerox’s public sector for more than a decade, he brings deep knowledge of this segment to his new role. His experience includes five years in public sector sales and several years as head of alliances in the U.K. and Europe, working with alliance partners on significant public sector contracts. Longhi will report directly to Xerox U.K. and Ireland managing director Alan Charnley and will join the Xerox U.K. and Ireland management board.
“Xerox has been a partner to the U.K. government for more than 35 years. With Carlo at the helm of our Government team, we aim to deliver new ideas and subject-matter expertise, helping the government focus on its business of increasing efficiencies across departments, realising cost savings and supporting the transformation of services for U.K. citizens.” said Alan Charnley, managing director, Xerox U.K. and Ireland.
Xerox provides technology, document management and business process outsourcing to such public sector clients as the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP), Worcester NHS Trust, Manchester City Council, Scottish Police Services Authority and Kirklees Council.
