UXBRIDGE, U.K., November 1, 2013 – As technology continues to redefine the workplace, what steps must companies take to prepare for the always-on, platform-ambivalent business of the future?
What strategies are needed? Should CIOs now be looked to as chief innovation officers on top of their existing duties?
At this year’s Gartner Symposium ITxpo, 10-14 November in Barcelona, Spain, Xerox will address these and other questions as Dr. Stephen Hoover, chief executive officer of the Palo Alto Research Center, or PARC, a Xerox company, addresses how CIOs are taking on a much larger and visionary role in the enterprise.
The session entitled ‘CIO: Chief Information Officer, Chief Innovation Officer or both?’ will discuss the open innovation strategies that are enabling organisations to keep pace with ever-changing business requirements and the associated technology breakthroughs. It will be held on 11th November at 3.00-3.45pm in meeting room 120 + 121.
“CIOs are in a unique position to drive impactful innovation,” Hoover said. “At the Gartner Symposium we will show how innovation starts with human behaviour and context, and how building an agile development process, that adjusts to new and constant information flow, is critical in driving an innovative strategy.”
Xerox also will demonstrate new integration technologies that help companies automate workflows, manage content and analyse documents efficiently, in order to become more productive.
At stand O2 visitors can explore:
- Device Security - a solution providing complete centralised management for mobile devices and the virtualised desktop.
- User Analytics - an application that defines specific workflows that are appropriate for being automated, and categorises paper documents in order to push them to relevant departments and devices.
- Workflow Automation - the automation of document intensive workflows such as invoice processing and payment through the digitisation of paper documents using a multifunctional device.
Attendees also will get a firsthand look at Xerox’s digital e-discovery table, which makes it easy to find, open, sort, move and review thousands of documents with the touch of a finger.
Andy Jones, director and general manager of service development and marketing, Xerox Europe, will discuss how each of these new technologies fits into Xerox’s next-generation managed print services model.
Jones’ talk, titled ‘Printing less with Next Generation MPS’, will demonstrate how the multifunctional device can be used to improve access to information in areas such as human resources and finance.
To help the 5,000 Gartner Symposium attendees get the most out of the conference, Xerox is supplying 13 ConnectKey multifunction devices on the show floor, working as a hub for all the information associated with the event.
Available on the ConnectKey dashboard will be applications for downloading the symposium agenda, finding the best local restaurants, accessing the floor plan or printing guest passes, as well as printing, copying and scanning other documents while on the go.
