Did you know that it takes 2 to 4 tenths (2/10 to 4/10) of a second to blink your eye? Why is that important? It really isn’t until you learn about Flash Fusing. What is Flash Fusing you ask well let me tell you this is one fast process! Flash fusing is a technology that will fuse an image to paper at a rate of about 8.3 color prints per second or 500 prints per minutes on our continuous feed printers. So this technology literally allows a color image to be printed in the blink of an eye!! Not only that but the process is all done through flashes of light, nothing but toner and light rays touch the paper which passes by at 226 feet per minute.
A toner created by Xerox allows for this amazing innovation. The toner is affixed to the media simply through the use of high-intensity Xenon light flashing at more than 2,000 times per second, yes I said 2,000 times per second that is more flashing light then on the red carpet at the Grammy’s! There are 8 Xenon lamps in the printer. The Xenon lamps are similar to the super bright headlights in the newer luxury cars. Other benefits of the Flash Fusing process are that it reduces paper heat and shrinkage, retains proper paper moisture and reduces paper curl and static. Because the toner is fixed without the fuser contacting the paper, wide varieties of papers can be printed—from normal paper to specialty media like plastic card and labels.
Flash fusing is available in the Xerox 490/980 Color Continuous Feed Printing System, the fastest, full-color toner-based continuous feed device of its kind. The Xerox 650/1300 Monochrome Continuous Feed printer and the Xerox 495 Monochrome Duplex Continuous Feed printer also use this new technology. I am sure there will be more products incorporating this technology in the future.
Please watch the video for more information about this process. In the 4 minutes and 3 seconds it takes you to watch the video somewhere 2024.9 images will be printed and you will only blink about 64 times!!
